Polaris IC SPAD Chip Wins Outstanding Project Award in Changfeng Cup Competition

In the 4th Changfeng Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2024, PolarisIC Microelectronics Co. (Shenzhen) (“PolarisIC”) won the Outstanding Project Award in the field of next-generation information technology with its dToF and PCI chips based on single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) technology, standing out from more than 500 outstanding enterprises.

PolarisIC is a high-tech enterprise focusing on depth sensing and micro-optical imaging chip design, with the earliest team to enter the field of single-photon sensor research in China, successfully developed and mastered the high-performance SPAD technology with full intellectual property rights, and based on the self-developed SPAD synchronized launch of the dToF (Direct Time of Flight Ranging) chip and the PCI (Photon Counting Imaging) chip, achieving a breakthrough in the localization of single-photon sensing chip. We have achieved a breakthrough in the localization of single-photon sensing chips.
SPAD is an optoelectronic device with single-photon detection capability, capable of distance measurement at the speed of light, realizing microsecond time resolution and sub-millimeter measurement accuracy. In addition, SPAD can also collect images by photon counting to realize night vision imaging or high-speed imaging, becoming the core component of the new generation of single-photon perception chips. The perception chip based on SPAD technology has a wide range of application prospects in many fields such as LIDAR, proximity sensing, and microlight imaging.

The SPAD chip developed by PolarisIC has reached the leading level in China in terms of key performance indicators, demonstrating significant advantages such as high time resolution, high consistency, high sensitivity and low noise.
With full-stack SPAD technology and high-speed digital integration capability, PolarisIC has constructed two product lines, namely dToF depth sensing and PCI micro-optical imaging, and formed a rich product matrix from single point to face array. At present, many products of these two product lines have been introduced in the products of many industry leaders, and have realized large-scale mass production and delivery.
